Heinz Sebiger

Heinz Sebiger (born March 9, 1923 in Nuremberg ; † August 25, 2016 there ) was a German economist . Sebiger was the founder and long-time CEO of DATEV eG.

Life

Together with other tax consultants and a lawyer , the economist and tax consultant Heinz Sebiger founded DATEV eG in 1966, which today is one of the most important IT service providers for the liberal professions and medium-sized companies. He managed the company until 1996, when he handed over the chairmanship to Dieter Kempf . According to DATEV's 1996 annual report, the company employed more than 4,700 people at that time and achieved sales of almost one billion DM.

At the beginning of the 1980s, Sebiger studied computer science with an elective subject electrical engineering at the Fernuniversität Hagen .

Merits

Sebiger has also made a name for himself through numerous honorary positions . He was president of the Nuremberg Chamber of Tax Advisors for 30 years . From 1975 to 1995 he was a member of the Presidium of the Federal Chamber of Tax Advisors. He worked intensively on expanding business contacts with Japan . Sebiger has received numerous awards for his services, including the IHK Medal of Honor in 1996. In 1980 he received the Bavarian Order of Merit and in 1988 the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany . In 1986 the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg awarded him an honorary doctorate in recognition of his services , and in 1997 he was made an honorary citizen of his hometown Nuremberg , after he had received the city's citizen medal in 1995 . Since 2007 he wore the gold ring of honor of the Federal Chamber of Tax Advisors, which was awarded for the first time for a lifetime achievement. In May 2008, Sebiger was awarded the Small Order of the Rising Sun on Ribbon (Kyokujitsu shōjushō) for his services to German-Japanese relations on behalf of the Japanese emperor .
