John Webster (mycologist)

John Webster (born May 25, 1925 in Kirkby-in-Ashfield , † December 27, 2014 ) was a British mycologist at the University of Exeter . His botanical-mycological author's abbreviation is " J.Webster ".

Webster worked in Exeter from 1969 to 1990. During that time he trained numerous leading mycologists such as Lynne Boddy , Nicholas Money and Alan Rayner . His research interest was particularly the imperfect water mushrooms.

Together with Roland Weber he wrote the book 'Introduction to Fungi', a standard work in mycology, the 3rd edition of which was published in 2007.
