John Westphal

John Westphal (* 1895 in Altona ; † 1980 ) was a German police officer .

Career

Westphal worked as a journalist for the SPD press before the party was banned in 1933 . At the same time he was mayor of Hanover and a member of the provincial parliament of Hanover. From 1945 he worked for the senior executive committee in Kiel and, after the establishment of the state of Schleswig-Holstein, from 1947 for the Ministry of Social Affairs in Kiel. From 1953 until his retirement in 1959, he was police chief in Hanover.
