John Whittaker (politician)

John Whittaker (born June 7, 1945 in Oldham , Lancashire ) is a British economist and politician with the UK Independence Party .

Life

Whittaker studied atomic physics and earned a BSc in physics in London and a PhD in physics and a BA in economics from Cape Town. He has been an economist since the 1980s. Whittaker was a lecturer at the University of Cape Town for a number of years , as well as visiting lectureships at City University Business School and Nottingham University .

From July 2004 to July 2009 Whittaker was a member of the European Parliament . In 2007 Whittaker was Chairman of the UK Independence Party . He was followed in 2008 as Chairman Paul Nuttall . Today he teaches at Lancaster University for the MBA: International Money and Banking in the Department of Economics.
