John Wojtak

John Ferdinand Wojtak (born February 19, 1949 ) is an American - Austrian basketball coach and former player.

Life

Wojtak played basketball at North Dakota State University in his native USA . In his final season 1970/71, the inside player was named best player in the North Central Conference . Overall, Wojtak scored 1098 points and 831 rebounds in 75 games for North Dakota State. The latter was the highest value in the university team's all-time record list when he left it in 1971.

In 1971 Wojtak came to the ATSV Mounier Wels as a player , was with the team in 1972 champions of the B-League, which meant promotion to the Bundesliga A. He then played for Wels in the Bundesliga and became a crowd favorite. He was Austrian runner-up several times with Wels.

After his playing career he was coach of the men's team in Wels. In the 1983/84 season he coached the German Bundesliga club USC Bayreuth as a coach. Afterwards he was employed in Osnabrück. At the end of the 1980s he was in charge of MTV Wolfenbüttel.

In the game year 1992/93 as well as in 1995 the women of Powerbasket Wels trained. He also worked as a youth trainer in Wels.

He coached the Linzstrom Red Devils in the Bundesliga, in 2006 he went to the Middle East: in the 2006/07 season he was coach of the Al Ahli Sports Club in Qatar and in the 2007/08 game year of Al Muharraq in Bahrain . He led the latter team to win the national championship title. From 2008 to 2009 Wojtak was in charge of the As Sadd Sports Club in Qatar and in the 2011/12 season the Qatar Sports Club Doha before he worked as a trainer at the Upper Austrian Basketball Association.
