Johnny Albino

Johnny Albino , born Juan Antonio Albino Ortiz (born December 9, 1919 in Yauco , † May 7, 2011 in New York City ) was a Puerto Rican bolero singer .

Albino served in the US Army during World War II, where he performed as a singer with a quartet. He had his first professional appearance in 1946. He later became a member of the popular Trio San Juan . In 1958 he succeeded Hernando Aviles in the Trio Los Panchos , of which he was a member until 1968. He also appeared with stars such as Johnny Carson , Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr. on. After differences and legal disputes, he separated from the Los Panchos. In the following years he worked with various other groups. In total, he recorded more than three hundred albums and CDs.
