Johnny Diesel

Johnny Diesel (real name Mark Lizotte ; born May 31, 1967 in Fall River , Massachusetts , USA ) is an Australian rock musician and guitarist . He has made records under the name Mark Lizotte as well as under the stage name Johnny Diesel.

youth

Although born in the United States, Mark Lizotte's parents moved to Perth, Australia shortly after their child was born . Mark grew up playing a variety of musical instruments, but he was particularly fond of the electric guitar. Mark Lizotte played in the bands The Kind , The Innocent Bystanders and Close Action . Together with the group The Innocent Bystanders he recorded his first record in 1983. In June 1986 he left the band.

Johnny Diesel and the Injectors (1987-1990)

Mark Lizotte took on the stage name Johnny Diesel in 1987 and formed the band Johnny Diesel and the Injectors .

The album of the same name Johnny Diesel and the Injectors was recorded in Memphis, Tennessee , produced by Terry Manning and recorded in March 1989. The band won two ARIA Awards for Best New Talent and Best Selling Album of the Year . More than 280,000 copies of the debut record were sold.

Diesel (1991–1998)

At this point he broke up the band, only to reappear in July 1991 under the name Diesel and the single Love Junk . In 1992 the record Hepfidelity followed with the additional releases Come To Me , Tip of My Tongue , Man Alive and One More Time . The record sold more than 200,000 copies. Diesel won two ARIA Awards for Best Album and Best Male Artist in 1992.

The Lobbyist followed in August 1993 and consisted of a mix of new songs, reworked pieces from the Hepfidelity record and a few cover versions. Again, this record won an ARIA Award for Best Male Artist.

In 1994 Solid State Rhyme was released with the singles All Come Together , Fifteen Feet of Snow and Get It On . This record has also been awarded platinum several times.

Diesel then changed his style for a record with Short Cool Ones , an album with blues cover pieces and a new track by Diesel. He recorded this record with Australian blues musician Chris Wilson . In 1996 he released his best of record Rewind - The Best Of . In the same year he moved to New York City with his family .

At this point in his career, Diesel had sold over 800,000 records.

Comeback as Mark Lizotte

Diesel returned to the music business in 1999 under his real name Mark Lizotte with the record Soul Lost Companion . The single releases from this record were the songs Dig and Satellite .

2002 until today

Diesel returned to Australia from New York in 2002 and released the record Hear in October 2002 . In 2004 the acoustic record Singled Out was released .
