Johnny Indrisano , actually Johnny Andrews Andressano (born January 1, 1905 in Boston , USA , † July 9, 1968 in San Fernando Valley , California , USA) was an American actor , boxer , stuntman and bodyguard .

Life

Johnny Indrisano came from the poorest of backgrounds. In 1924 he began his career as a middle heavyweight boxer , which lasted until 1934, when he was still under his real name. Although he did not win titles, he won most of the fights and beat boxers such as Lou Broulliard, Tommy Freeman, Joe Dundee, Nick Testo, Sig Kepper and Sammy Baker. He won 80 of 83 professional fights. After his career as a boxer, he worked as a professional boxing referee from 1934 to 1949.

He got his first contact with film as a stuntman in a good 13 films and as a personal and official boxing trainer in Hollywood. He trained John Garfield , Spencer Tracy , Cary Grant , Mickey Rooney , Robert Ryan , Robert Taylor , Jimmy Durante , Fred MacMurray and Ricardo Montalbán , among others . Despite his marriage to Mary Gilbert (the marriage lasted from 1932 to 1939), he had an affair known throughout Hollywood with Mae West , of which he was the bodyguard and driver. He also became friends with Frank Sinatra .

He made his first film in 1935 with the title The Winning Ticket . Appearances in more than 160 other films followed, but he remained unnamed in many, was used as a small actor or stuntman. He also worked for television and had guest roles in series such as Bonanza , Honza and Run for your life .

He died on July 9, 1968 under mysterious circumstances. Although suicide was assumed because he was found hanged, the case has not yet been fully resolved.
