Jonathan "Johnny" Russell (born April 8, 1990 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish football player who has been under contract with Sporting Kansas City since 2018 .

Career

Dundee United

Born from his own youth, Johnny Russell made his debut on May 12, 2007 for Dundee United in a 2-0 defeat at FC Falkirk . In August 2008 he moved to Forfar Athletic on loan and scored four goals in nine league games by the end of the year. At the beginning of the 2009/10 season there was another loan deal for the second division Raith Rovers .

During the Scottish Premier League 2010/11 Russell (29 league games / 9 goals) established himself as a regular at Dundee United and reached fourth place in the table with the first division club. After nine more goals in the following season , he scored thirteen goals in 2012/13 .

Derby County

On June 10, 2013 Johnny Russell moved to the English second division Derby County and signed a four-year contract. He wears the number 11 on his back.
