The Johnston Passage is a strait in the Adelaide and Biscoe Islands off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . It runs in a north-south direction and separates the southwest coast of Adelaide Island from the Amiot Islands .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1964 after Captain William Johnston (1908–1968), from 1956 to 1962 the skipper of the research vessel RRS John Biscoe .
