The Amiot Islands ( French Îles Amiot ) comprise two groups of islands and reef rocks , the Ward Islands and the Cumbers Reef , off the west coast of the West Antarctic Graham Land . They are located 14.5 km west of Cape Adriasola on Adelaide Island .
Participants in the Fifth French Antarctic Expedition (1908-1910) under the direction of Jean-Baptiste Charcot discovered it. Charcot named her A. Amiot († 1910), engineer and director of the French L'Enterprise Montevideo , the Charcots research ship Pourquoi-Pas? repaired. In 1963 the Royal Navy's hydrographic surveying unit carried out an exact position determination.
