The Ward Islands ( English Ward Islands ) are a group of two small islands and some reef rocks in the archipelago of the Adelaide and Biscoe Islands west of the Antarctic Peninsula . They are located in the southern section of the Amiot Islands off the coast of the southwestern part of Adelaide Island .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1964 after Herbert George Ward (1908–1978), chief engineer of the British research vessels RSS John Biscoe I (1948–1955) and II (1959–1962).
