The Johnstone Lake is an oval, hypersaline, 500 m long and 200 m wide lake on the Ingrid Christensen Coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth country . In the Vestfold Mountains it is located 4.5 km west-northwest of the Platcha weather station in a terraced area.
The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it after the biologist Gavin Johnstone, who was involved in the scientific exploration of the Vestfold Mountains and who had written a monograph on the biology there.
