Jolante by Courtenay

Jolante von Courtenay (Hungarian: Courtenay Jolán ; * around 1200 in Courtenay (Loiret) , France, † 1233 ) was a queen of Hungary as the wife of King Andrew II . She was the daughter of Peter von Courtenay († 1217), Count of Auxerre, and Jolante of Flanders († 1219). On her father's side she came from the House of Courtenay , a branch of the Capetians , on her mother's side from the House of Flanders .

Life

In February 1215 she married in Székesfehérvár as his second wife, King Andrew II of Hungary (* around 1177; † 1235). His first wife Gertrud von Andechs was murdered in 1213.

With him she had a daughter, Yolanda of Hungary .

Jolante and Andreas were buried in the Egres monastery.
