Jolie (French for “beautiful”, “pretty”) is a monthly German women's magazine published by the Klambt media group in Hamburg .

Ingrid Rose has been the editor-in-chief since 2018.

Editorial concept

Jolie focuses on beauty topics and appeals to young, female millennials who are curious and well-funded.

history

The first edition appeared in 2003. The founding editor-in-chief was Michaela Mielke , who left the paper in 2009. Until mid-2009, Jolie was published by Axel Springer Mediahouse Munich , a subsidiary of Axel Springer AG . In addition to the magazine, the Axel Springer Mediahouse Munich operated the online presence from 2004. In July 2009 the title was sold to Vision Media GmbH, which belongs to OZ Verlag , and the Axel Springer Mediahouse in Munich was dissolved.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Jolie brand, the layout of both the magazine and the website was revised in 2013, and new features are also offered. For the first time, the magazine is also available as an e-mag.

The founding editor-in-chief Michaela Mielke was followed in 2010 by Anja Lochner , who had previously been acting as head of the paper. When Lochner switched to Cosmopolitan in 2015 , Katrin Futterknecht succeeded her. She went on maternity leave on February 1, 2016 and resigned from office. While unknown female models were featured on the front page of the first four issues of Jolie , since the March 2004 issue a female star has graced the front of the magazine. Circulation statistics

In the fourth quarter of 2019, the average sold circulation according to IVW was 99,745 copies. That is 4.68% less than in the same quarter of the previous year (104,641). The average sold circulation in retail remained almost constant and was 29 copies less than in the previous year at 37,356 copies, while the number of subscribers fell by 18.68% to 6,859.
