The Joliette Rock ( Spanish Roca Joliette ) is a 2 m high, black cliff rock in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located 50 m northwest of González Island on the eastern edge of Discovery Bay on Greenwich Island . About 100 m northwest of it there is a shoal with a few rock needles that protrude above sea level.
Scientists of the 1st Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1946–1947) named it after the original name of their research vessel Iquique . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee translated this designation into English in 2004.
