Listen to Jonas Staugaitis ? / i (* May 20, 1868 in Omentiškiai , Vilkaviškis District , Russian Empire ; † January 18, 1952 in Kaunas , Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic ) was the fourth President of the Republic of Lithuania during the coup in December 1926. Life

From 1887 to 1893 he studied medicine at the University of Warsaw . In 1919 he was elected to the Lithuanian Parliament (Seimas) as a member of the Peasant People's Party. On June 2, 1926, he was elected chairman of the Seimas.

He is buried in the Petrašiūnai cemetery in Kaunas.
