Jonathan Cheever (born April 17, 1985 in Saugus , Essex County , Massachusetts ) is an American snowboarder . He competes in the snowboard cross discipline , occasionally in the halfpipe and in big air .

In 2004 Jonathan Cheever started as 55th with moderate success at the Junior World Championships in Snowboard Cross in Oberwiesenthal . In the same year he achieved his first podium in an FIS race with second place in the New Zealand Remarkables in the halfpipe. After that he concentrated more on the cross and was able to achieve a second place at the Nor-Am Cup , at the snowboard cross on February 12, 2006 in Big White, Canada . He also started at the South American Cup from 2009. In these continental competitions and FIS races, he managed a total of eight placements among the top ten. In his specialty discipline, his best result at national championships was fifth in 2008.

Cheever made his World Cup debut in March 2006 at Lake Placid in a race in the halfpipe. Since March 2007 he has been taking part in the Snowboard World Cup regularly. He made it into the top ten for the first time a year later in Lake Placid with a seventh place. At the end of the season in Stoneham he was tenth and at the start of the 2008/2009 season in Chapelco , Argentina , he achieved his best result to date in sixth.

In the overall World Cups of the 2008 season he was 21st in the discipline and 70th in the overall ranking, and in the previous season he finished 56th in his discipline.

Cheever is single and lives in Park City , Utah .
