Jonathan David "Jon" Rogawski (born January 22, 1955 , † September 27, 2011 ) was an American mathematician who dealt with the Langlands program .

Rogawski grew up in Los Angeles (Brentwood District) and attended Palisades Public High School. He studied at Yale University with a bachelor's and master's degree in 1976 and a doctorate with Robert Langlands in 1980 (Applications of the Building to Orbital Integrals). As a post-doctoral student he was at the University of Bonn in 1980/81 and at Yale from 1981 to 1983. In 1983/84 he was at the Institute for Advanced Study and then until 1986 at the University of Chicago . In 1986 he became a research fellow of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation ( Sloan Research Fellow ). He was a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles , where he had been since 1986 and was given a full professorship in 1989. He died in 2011 after suffering from cancer for a long time.

He is also known in the USA for an analysis textbook.

He was one of the editors of the Pacific Journal of Mathematics .
