Jonathan "Jon" Stead (born April 7, 1983 in Huddersfield , England ) is an English footballer . The striker currently plays for English second division club Huddersfield Town .
Life
Stead began his professional career in 2002 with Huddersfield Town . In his first three league games he scored four goals, so that big clubs noticed him. In February 2004, he moved to Blackburn Rovers for £ 1.25 million . He made his debut for Blackburn in the first division game against Middlesbrough FC , in which he also scored the winning goal to make it 1-0.
However, he was unable to build on the initial success later, and after Blackburn had signed another striker with Craig Bellamy , Stead moved to Sunderland on June 13, 2005 for £ 1,800,000 . But also in Sunderland the gates stayed away; overall he scored only two goals in about a year and 35 league games, and so he was loaned to the second division Derby County in October 2006 , for which he scored three goals in 17 games.
On January 10, 2007 it was announced that Stead would move from Sunderland to Sheffield United for £ 750,000, so that he will now play again in the FA Premier League .
On August 24, 2010, Stead moved to Bristol City and signed a three-year contract.
After three years in Bristol and relegation to third division in the 2012/13 Football League Championship , Stead signed a contract with second division club Huddersfield Town in the summer of 2013 .
