Company history

The first table tennis tables were manufactured for the sports department of the Jooss department store in Landau in 1952. The owner at the time, Karl Frey, expanded this division. Two years later the "table tennis production" became an independent department of the department store. Due to the constant expansion, the Landau location no longer offered enough space and in 1963 the company moved to Godramstein . With the relocation to Godramstein and the separation from the parent company, Joola became its own company. Despite the addition of further buildings in Godramstein, the limits of possible capacity were reached in 1970. Therefore, in 1973 the company moved to a newly built plant in Siebeldingen. The new plant has a total area of 3700 m², divided into 1800 m² production, 1200 m² storage and 700 m² administrative space. In 1979 Karl Frey was replaced by Michael Bachtler as managing director. Bachtler had been running the majority of the business since 1968. The company name in Joola Tischtennis GmbH was a result of the takeover by the US company Sport Squad at the end of 2018.
