Jorge Azanza Soto (born June 16, 1982 in Alsasua ) is a sports director and former Spanish cyclist .

Career

Jorge Azanza began his international career in 2005 with the Spanish Professional Continental Team Kaiku , after winning the overall ranking of the Vuelta a Córdoba last year and having achieved a stage win and a second stage place at the Bidasoa Itzulia . At the Mallorca Challenge 2006 he came eighth in the unofficial overall ranking. At the Trofeo Calvia he was sixth.

In 2007 he then moved to the Basque Euskaltel-Euskadi team. In the same year he went to the Tour de France for the first time , which he finished 82nd. In 2011 he rode the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España and in 2012 he took part in the Tour de France for the second time . In his last career year in 2013 he competed again in the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España 2013 and finished these tours in 33rd and 90th places.

In 2018 Azana became the sporting director of the UCI Continental Team Euskadi , which received a license as a UCI ProTeam for the 2020 season under the name Fundación-Orbea .
