Jorge González (marathon runner)

Jorge González ( Jorge Luis "Peco" González ; born December 20, 1952 in Utuado ) is a Puerto Rican marathon runner .

In 1983 he won gold at the Pan American Games and set a national record of 2:12:43 hours, which is still in place today (as of June 2017).

He finished 13th in the 1984 Olympic Games marathon , and in the same year he won the Honolulu Marathon . In 1987 he won bronze at the Pan American Games.

Jorge González is called "Peco" by his compatriots , after Pecos Bill, the fictional wonder cowboy.
