Jorge Sanguinetti

Jorge Sanguinetti (born November 14, 1934 in Montevideo , † January 5, 2017 ) was a Uruguayan politician .

Sanguinetti was a member of the Partido Colorado . During the presidency of his cousin Julio María Sanguinetti , he was Minister in the Uruguayan Ministry of Transport and Construction from March 1, 1985 to September 21, 1989 . He resigned from this office in order to accompany Jorge Batlle's presidential candidacy as a candidate for the office of Vice President . However, this venture was unsuccessful and Luis Alberto Lacalle finally won the elections in November 1989. In the local elections in 2000, he attempted to replace him in the office of Intendente Municipal of Colonia , which ultimately failed when Carlos Moreira was re-elected . From December 2000 to May 2004, he then chaired the autonomous state institution Administración Nacional de Combustibles, Alcohol y Portland (ANCAP).
