Evaluation of his work

Comic book writer Chuck Dixon, with whom Zaffino worked on The Punisher and Winter World , appreciated Zaffino's craftsmanship and his style, which can exude “strength, passion and malice” . Zaffino was able to draw figures that looked dangerous and that no one would ever want to meet. Therefore, he tailored the stories to Zaffino's dark style, with which the draftsman was able to convey “both the small human moments and the big, operatic aspects of comics” .
