José Maria Nepomuceno

José Maria Nepomuceno (born August 23, 1836 in Lisbon ; † June 16, 1895 ibid) was a Portuguese architect .

Life

Nepomuceno was born the son of Manuel Joaquim Nepomuceno and Dona Getrudes Magna das Dores Lobo. His father was employed by the Junta do Commercio after studying trade at the Naval Academy.

Nepomuceno studied architecture at the Academia das Bellas Artes and at the Instituto Industrial in Lisbon and joined the Ministry of Public Works in 1865. He initially headed various reconstruction projects. The reconstructions of the São Vicente church in Lisbon, the church in Odivelas and the portico of the Madre de Deus church come from him .
