José Pacheco Soares

José Pacheco Soares (born October 6, 1970 in Hoholau , Aileu , Portuguese Timor ) is a politician from East Timor . He is a member of the FRETILIN party .

Soares was a leading member of the East Timorese resistance to the Indonesian occupation (1975-1999). He later became the school principal.

In the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2017 , Soares ran without a chance in 37th place on the FRETILIN list. In the early election on May 12, 2018 , he was able to move into the national parliament in 8th place. Soares is a member of the parliamentary commission for constitutional questions and justice (commission A).
