José Vanzzino (* 1895 ) was a Uruguayan football player .

Left defender Vanzzino, known as Cochemba , first played for Bristol in 1911 . With the club he finished sixth in the Primera División that season . He then belonged to the Nacionals squad from 1912 to 1929 . With the Bolsos , in whose foreign tours he also took part in 1925 and 1927, he was a total of nine Uruguayan champions - in the seasons 1912, 1915, 1916, 1917, 1919, 1920, 1922, 1923 and 1924. With a career spanning 19 years as an active player, he is Nacionals' record player in this regard and also the player who has played for the club for the longest uninterrupted period, as the 20 year old Héctor Scarone only played one game each in 1939 and 1950. Overall, Vanzzino played 420 games for the Bolsos from his debut against River Plate Football Club to his last appearance on August 17, 1930 .

National team

Vanzzino was also a member of the Uruguayan senior team . Overall, he completed from his debut on August 15, 1915 to his last game for the Celeste on November 20, 1927 37 internationals. He did not score a hit.

Vanzzino took part with the national team in the South American Championships in 1916 (one game), 1917 (three games), 1919 (four games), 1922 (four games), 1926 (four games) and 1927 (three games). Uruguay won the title in 1916, 1917 and 1926.

He also won the Copa Newton 1917, the Copa Gran Premio de Honor Uruguayo 1918 and the Copa Club Círculo de La Prensa in 1919 with the national team .
