José Vicente Asuar

José Vicente Asuar (born July 20, 1933 in Santiago de Chile ; † January 11, 2017 ) was a Chilean composer who was one of the pioneers of electroacoustic music in his country.

Asuar studied in Santiago at the Conservatory and the Catholic University and in Berlin with Boris Blacher and Josef Rufer . Since 1962 he was Professor of Acoustics at the University of Santiago. In 1965 he set up an electronic music studio in Caracas , which he directed until 1968. In 1974 he founded his own recording studio (COMDASUAR).

Asuar wrote the music for Imagén de Caracas , a performance for eight film and forty-five slide projectors, music channels, voices and instruments in a theater built for 1,200 visitors. He also wrote compositions for electronic instruments, orchestral works and an octet for four flutes and four percussionists .
