Jos van Veldhoven (* 1952 in 's-Hertogenbosch ) is a Dutch conductor .

Act

Jos van Veldhoven studied musicology at the University of Utrecht and choir and orchestral conducting at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague . From 1983 he was artistic director of the Dutch Bach Association ( Nederlandse Bachvereniging ). Since 1976 he has been leading the Utrecht Barok Consort, which he founded .

He gained international fame through his performances in particular of the passions and cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach and his contemporaries.

His work also extends to rarely performed works of early music, u. a. by Giovanni Maria Bononcini , Giovanni L Limiti , Reinhard Keizer or - as a Dutch premiere - the St. John Passion by Georg Gebel in November 2007.

Tours with his Bach Association have taken him to Germany, Japan and the USA. Jos van Veldhoven is also a frequent guest in German opera houses. a. in the Bonn Opera with a Handel cycle and in the Essen Opera .

In March 2018 van Veldhoven resigned from the leadership of the Dutch Bach Association, which was taken over by the previous concertmaster Shunske Sato (* 1984).
