history

The park was founded on June 4, 2002 by the Municipal Council for Culture of the City of Vienna after the diocesan bishop of Graz-Seckau, former pastor of St. Erhard in Mauer (1942–1949) and dean of the deanery in Liesing, Dr. theol. Josef Schoiswohl (1901–1991), named. It was previously called Dr.-Karl-Lueger-Park. This honor was given to Dr. Karl Lueger as well as others (e.g. Dr.-Karl-Lueger-Ring ), due to his anti-Semitic attitude throughout his life, stripped. Dr. Karl Lueger appeared, among other things, as a right-wing populist with slogans such as Greater Vienna must not become Greater Jerusalem .
