Josef Alken
Josef Alken ( March 17, 1860 in Trier - August 19, 1932 in Darmstadt ) was a German opera singer ( bass ) and actor .
Life
Alken received his training in Trier from Miss da Ponte. He began his stage career in Ulm (1883-1884), was then engaged in Magdeburg (1884-1885), Strasbourg (1885-1886) and Neustrelitz (1886-1887) and then worked at the Schwerin Court Theater as an actor and singer. His real subject was that of the bass buffo ; his performances as " Sarastro ", "Papageno", "Caspar", "Eremit", "Cardinal" and "Mephisto" were praised.
He was married to the opera singer Minna Minor . After her death in 1905, he ended his stage career.
