Josef Franzmair

Josef Franzmair (born June 12, 1914 in St. Marien ; † February 22, 1979 in Kematen an der Krems ) was an Upper Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and union secretary. Franzmair was a member of the National Council from 1962 to 1966 and a member of the Upper Austrian Landtag from 1966 to 1973 .

Life

Franzmair completed an apprenticeship as a bricklayer after attending primary and secondary school. He subsequently worked as a trade union secretary and between 1954 and 1975 held the position of state secretary of the trade union of construction and woodworkers in Upper Austria. Franzmair was also a board member of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees for Upper Austria for many years . Within the party, he held the office of district chairman of the SPÖ Linz-Land and was a member of the SPÖ state party executive. He was also a member of the Kematen an der Krems municipal committee.

Franzmair represented the SPÖ between April 1946 and February 1975 in the Kematen municipal council and was also a member of the National Council between December 14, 1962 and March 30, 1966. On March 29, 1966 he was sworn in as a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament, and in November 1967 he also took over the office of mayor of Kematen. Franzmair resigned from the state parliament on November 15, 1973 and was mayor of Kematen until February 1975.
