Josef Gruber (politician, 1922)
Josef Gruber (born February 10, 1922 in Sankt Florian ; † March 3, 1980 in Wels ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). From 1959 to 1979 he was a member of the National Council .
Life
After elementary school, Gruber attended the Stiftsgymnasium Kremsmünster and passed the Matura there. He was then called up for service in World War II in 1941 and did not return from captivity until 1946. He then studied law at the University of Vienna and earned his Dr. iur. Gruber worked between 1949 and 1953 as the diocesan secretary of the Catholic Action and in 1953 became director of the Bildungshaus Schloss Puchberg . In addition, he was chairman of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Bildungsheims Österreichs and received the professional title of professor in 1975 .
Gruber was active in the political field from 1959 as a chamber councilor of the chamber for workers and salaried employees for Upper Austria and as city party chairman of the ÖVP Wels. He also acted as the regional chairman of the ÖAAB Upper Austria. He represented the ÖVP between June 9, 1959 and June 4, 1979 in the National Council. There he held the function of chairman of the teaching committee and was also head boy of the ÖVP parliamentary club. In the 1979 National Council election , Gruber did not stand again due to illness, and a short time later he succumbed to severe cancer.
Gruber was married and the father of four sons who, like himself , were active in the boy scouts . Andreas is a film director and teaches in Munich, his son Josef as a lawyer, district captain of Wels-Land .
