Josef Joos

Josef Joos (also Joseph Joos ) (born January 7, 1846 in Cologne , † August 24, 1923 in New York ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Joos attended elementary school in Cologne. From 1883 to 1890 he was the social democrat's travel agent and party secretary in Zurich. In 1888 he was expelled and then lived in London. From 1906 to 1910 he was chairman of the SPD regional organization in the Duchy of Gotha.

In the state elections in 1896 he was elected to the Gotha state parliament for the first time . In 1900, 1904 and 1908 he was able to defend his mandate and was a member of the state parliament until his emigration in 1910.

In the Reichstag election in 1898 , he ran unsuccessfully in the LP12 (Schwarzburg-Sondershausen). The Reichstag candidacy in 1903 in LP13 (Schwarzburg-Sondershausen) was also unsuccessful.

From January 1891 to May 1910 he was editor of the Volksblatt in Gotha. In 1910 he emigrated to the USA, where his son was already living in New York. From 1910 to 1920 he was editor of the people's newspaper .

Joos was married and had a son.
