Josef Kandlbinder

Josef "Zuckerl" Kandlbinder (born January 7, 1923 in Regensburg ; † November 9, 2011 ) was a German arbitrator in the 1950s and 1960s.

life and career

In 1957 Kandlbinder, born in Regensburg in 1923, was appointed FIFA referee. In his career he was used in 16 international matches, 18 European Cup games, 24 games for the German soccer championship, four Bundesliga games, 115 games in the 1st division and 60 games in the 2nd division.

The highlight of his career was the final of the German championship in 1960 between Hamburger SV and 1. FC Köln and the 1960 Olympics in Rome . Here he played in the games England - Taiwan (3: 2), Brazil - England (4: 3) and Yugoslavia - Italy (1: 1).

In 1964 he ended his career as a referee and coached fifteen different clubs, including the VfR Regensburg and the Regensburg gymnastics club, which he then left in 1973.

Josef Kandlbinder died on November 9, 2011 at the age of 88.
