Josef Kern (musician)
Josef "Sepp" Kern (born December 30, 1933 in Gradenberg ; † June 30, 2010 in Graz ) was an Austrian musician and hotelier.
Life
Josef Kern was a co-founder of the Styrian folk music group Kern-Buam and took over the management of the group after the death of his father. He played trumpet, saxophone, clarinet and composed numerous "Kern-Buam" songs. Kern was also a founding member and long-standing president of the Association of Austrian Folk Music Composers (VÖV) and ran a hotel in Graz. On April 19, 1996, Sepp Kern was appointed professor and on June 25, 2008, he was appointed senator. He was the father-in-law of soccer player Heribert Weber . In the spring of 2009 the Kern-Buam disbanded for health reasons. On June 30, 2010, Kern succumbed to heart problems.
