Career

In 2002 Josef Kugler took part in the Junior World Championship in Zolder on the Circuit Zolder . In 2003 he joined the U-23 national team and was called up in October 2003 at the Herresportzentrum (HSZ) in Südstadt. In 2005 he achieved the bronze medal with the team at the military world championships in Zegrze (Poland). In the same year he took part in the U23 European championship in Moscow and in the world championship in Madrid and in 2006 in the road cycling world championship in Salzburg .

Kugler drove for the Arbö-KTM-Junkers team from 2007 to 2010 . In 2008 and 2009 he took part in the Tour of Austria , the largest Austrian stage race , with the ARBÖ Gebrüder Weiss-Oberndorfer team. His successes include third place at the Austrian state championships in Großraming 2010, as well as seventh overall place at the Tour de Hokkaidō in Japan 2009.

Because of suspected doping , Kugler was excluded in July 2010 before the Tour of Austria . The national doping agency NADA initiated proceedings against him and banned him for two years.

On March 21, 2012 it became known that ex-cross-country skier Christian Hoffmann had unauthorized or inadvertently recorded the decision-making in his case, which was then leaked to the Kronen Zeitung . The minutes of this recording were published by the Krone and raised considerable doubts as to the objectivity of the proceedings against Christian Hoffmann. The legal commission of the national doping agency NADA , which was also active in the Josef Kugler case, was removed from office on March 30, 2012 and the managing director Andreas Schwab resigned from his position.
