Josef Lang (politician, 1880)

Josef Lang (born December 27, 1880 in Mayen , † February 12, 1961 in West Berlin ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( SPD ).

Life

After graduating from primary school, Lang became a cloth maker and from 1896 to 1898 attended the higher weaving school. He then worked as a cloth maker in Aachen . He joined the German Textile Workers' Association in 1899 and was a member of the board of directors and chairman of the trade union in Aachen from 1902 to 1909, for which he worked full-time as secretary and manager from January 1910 to May 1927. From 1910 to 1923 he was chairman of the trade union cartel and the local committee of the General German Trade Union Federation (ADGB) in Langenbielau , from June 1927 to his dismissal in 1933 he was secretary and member of the main board of the German Textile Workers' Association in Berlin . At the beginning of the 20th century he was also a member of the board of the Aachen workers gymnastics club.

Lang joined the SPD and was a board member of the Aachen Social Democrats until 1909. After moving to Silesia, he was a local councilor in Oberlangenbielau from 1919 to 1924. He was a member of the Prussian State Constitutional Assembly from 1919 to 1921 . In February 1921, December 1924 and May 1928 he was elected as a member of the Prussian state parliament. He was a member of the state parliament until 1932 and represented constituency 7 (Breslau) in parliament.
