The 2014/15 season was ECHL's 27th regular season . After the dissolution of the Central Hockey League , 28 teams competed. The team with the highest points in the regular season were the Toledo Walleye . However, the Kelly Cup was won by the newcomer Allen Americans , who prevailed in the final series against the South Carolina Stingrays with 4-3 victories.
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Las Vegas Wranglers withdrew from ECHL gaming operations.
- The Indy Fuel entered the league as an expansion team.
- On October 7, 2014, ten days before the start of the season, it was announced that the following teams moved to the ECHL after the split-up Central Hockey League : Allen Americans , Brampton Beast , Missouri Mavericks , Quad City Mallards , Rapid City Rush , Tulsa Oilers and Wichita Thunder . They competed in the newly formed Central Division, part of the Western Conference.
