Rylan Derek Schwartz (born January 8, 1990 in Wilcox , Saskatchewan ) is a German - Canadian ice hockey player . He has been part of the Nürnberg Ice Tigers squad since 2019 .
Career
Schwartz played for the Notre Dame Hounds in his home province of Saskatchewan before moving to the United States in 2009 and enrolling at Colorado College . He played in the university's ice hockey team until spring 2013.
In April 2013, the center forward was signed by the San Jose Sharks from the National Hockey League (NHL), but was only used in the club's sponsorship teams in the years to come: He made his professional debut with the Worcester Sharks , the cooperation team San Joses in of the American Hockey League (AHL), in 2015 he won the Kelly Cup with the Allen Americans , who also worked with the San Jose Sharks , the championship title in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).
At the end of December 2015, Schwartz was signed by the Orlando Solar Bears (also ECHL). In January 2016, he signed a trial contract with the Toronto Marlies (AHL), played five games for the team before returning to the Solar Bears.
In July 2016 he signed with the German second division team Heilbronner Falken . At the end of August 2016, Schwartz, whose ancestors came from Germany, took on German citizenship. For the Falken he played 56 games in the DEL2 (including relegation) during the 2016/17 season and came up with 24 hits and 36 assists.
His achievements in Heilbronn aroused the interest of the Fischtown Pinguins , and the DEL association announced Schwartz's commitment in April 2017. He stayed in Bremerhaven for two years, and in spring 2019 he moved to the Nürnberg Ice Tigers within the DEL .
Personal
His younger brother Jaden Schwartz played with Rylan at Colorado College and joined the St. Louis Blues in the NHL in 2012 .
