Christopher James Brown (born February 3, 1991 in Flower Mound , Texas ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers from the German Ice Hockey League since April 2018 and plays for them on the position of the center .
Career
Brown went through the National Team Development Program of the United States Hockey Association in his junior years . For the program he played between 2007 and 2009 in the North American Hockey League and was subsequently selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2009 in the second round in 36th position by the Phoenix Coyotes from the National Hockey League . The center forward decided to study for three years at the University of Michigan . In parallel, he played for their ice hockey team in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association , a division of the National Collegiate Athletic Association , and won the division championship with the team at the end of the 2009/10 season.
After Brown was signed by the Phoenix Coyotes in March 2012 , he joined the Coyotes farm team , the Portland Pirates , in the American Hockey League at the beginning of the 2012/13 season . During the season he also made his NHL debut for the Coyotes. The 2013/14 game year , in which he also sporadically played in the NHL, was similar . In March 2014, Brown was transferred to the Washington Capitals with Rostislav Klesla and a four-round suffrage in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft , which in return gave Martin Erat and John Mitchell to Phoenix.
The capital club immediately gave Brown to its AHL farm team Hershey Bears , where the attacker played until February 2016 with a few exceptions. In another transfer business, he moved in exchange for Ryan Bourque in the organization of the New York Rangers , where he was used in the rest of the 2015/16 season at the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL. Due to his current contract, the striker also spent the following season there, before moving to Europe for the first time in his career in July 2017 and joining the Iserlohn Roosters from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). After a year in the Sauerland, he moved on to the Nürnberg Ice Tigers within the DEL .
International
Brown played for his home country in the 2008 World U-17 Hockey Challenge , the 2009 U18 World Junior Championship, and the 2011 U20 World Junior Championship . He was able to win a medal in each of the three international tournaments, including the world championship title with the U18 juniors at the home World Cup in 2009.
