Flower Mound is a city in Denton County and Tarrant County in the US state of Texas in the United States .
geography
The city is located in the south of Denton County and extends into Tarrant County. It is located near the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport in northwest Texas, is about 70 km to the north from Oklahoma and has a total area of 112.3 km², of which 6.6 km² is water surface.
Demographic data
According to the 2000 census, 50,702 people lived here in 16,179 households and 14,269 families. The population density was 479.0 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 90.24% White, 2.92% African American, 0.35% Native American, 3.05% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, and 1.77% other ethnic groups. About 1.61% were mixed race and 5.63% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 16,179 households, 56.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 80.6% of them were married couples living together. 5.4% were single mothers and 11.8% were non-families. 9.1% of all households were single households and there were people living in 1.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.12 and the average family size was 3.34 people.
34.8% of the population were under 18 years old, 4.2% 18 to 24, 39.5% 25 to 44, 18.8% 45 to 64, and 2.7% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 99.2 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 95.9 men.
