Brandon Jefferson (born November 25, 1991 in Flower Mound , Texas ) is an American basketball player . Jefferson was named "NABC Player of the Year" of Division II of the NCAA at the end of his studies in 2014 and then started a professional career. After a season in Finland , Jefferson played in the Bundesliga 2015/16 for the German first division team Phoenix Hagen. In the 2016/17 season Jefferson plays for the Slovenian record champions KK Union Olimpija in the EuroCup 2016/17 and the ABA league in international competitions.

Career

Jefferson graduated from high school in Lewisville, Texas and went to study at the Metropolitan State College of Denver in Colorado . Here he played from 2010 for the university team Roadrunners in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) of the NCAA Division II. The Roadrunners are record winners of this conference and won their tenth and eleventh titles in the championship tournament "RMAC Shootout" in Jefferson's time in 2013 and 2014 Jefferson was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament when he won the final in 2013 . In the national NCAA finals of Division II, the Roadrunners have been constant participants since 1998, with one exception in 2008, and after the quarter-finals Elite Eight 2012 they reached the Final Four of this tournament in both 2013 and 2014 . In 2013, the two-time winner of the competition lost the final game by one point against the Panthers of Drury University from Springfield (Missouri) , after the Roadrunners had been leading in double digits for most of the game. A year later Jefferson was named "National Player of the Year" of Division II, making it the second Roadrunner to receive this award after Mark Worthington in 2005, but the Roadrunners already lost the 2014 semifinals against eventual title winners Central Missouri Mules . Though only one Division II player, Jefferson was a long time in the Denver Nuggets roster for the 2014 NBA Summer League , which was then coached by Patrick Mutombo , himself a graduate of Metro State College; Ultimately, however, Jefferson remained without commitment.

After Jefferson could not recommend himself for clubs in the NBA, he signed his first professional contract in Finland in 2014 with Työvypen Palloilijat from Kotka . As the first in the main round, the team lost the play-off semi- final series in just five games against the Nilan Bisons and was able to secure third place in the championship in a "small final". While compatriot and teammate LaMonte Ulmer then got a contract with the German first division returnee s.Oliver Würzburg , Jefferson signed a contract with their league competitor Phoenix from Hagen for the 2015/16 Bundesliga basketball league . Ulmer was able to reach a play-off place with the Würzburgers, while Jefferson had to make do with the Hageners after deducting points because of violations of license regulations with the 13th place. For the following season Jefferson signed a new contract with the Slovenian record champions KK Union Olimpija from the capital Ljubljana , with whom he will not only compete in the supranational ABA league , but also in the EuroCup 2016/17 .
