Josef Letmaier
Josef Letmaier (born August 4, 1924 in Oberlengdorf, Sankt Martin am Grimming ; † January 31, 2002 in Liezen ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and master builder. From 1970 to 1980 he was a member of the Austrian National Council .
After primary school, Letmaier attended a grammar school and then the higher technical college in Graz. After graduating from the federal trade school, he passed his Matura in 1947 and was employed as a federal civil servant between 1947 and 1952. After taking the master builder examination, Letmaier started his own business as a master builder in 1952, where he was awarded the professional title of commercial councilor . He was the managing partner of the construction company Leitmaier and the Erste Liezener Betonwerk GesmbH.
In the political field, Letmaier was active as city group chairman of the Austrian Economic Association in Liezen between 1960 and 1970 , between 1965 and 1970 he was city councilor, then vice-mayor between June 1970 and November 1971. In addition, he acted as district group chairman, from 1974 he was regional group chairman of the Austrian Economic Association, from 1974 to 1976 regional guild master for the construction industry for Styria and from 1976 federal guild master. He represented the ÖVP between March 31, 1970 and April 11, 1980 in the National Council.
