Josef Lowatschek

Josef Lowatschek (born March 11, 1879 in Jedenspeigen ; † July 11, 1950 in Mödling ) was an Austrian politician ( CSP ) and elementary school director. Lowatschek was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from 1927 to 1934 .

Life

After attending the teacher training college in Brno , Lowatschek worked as a teacher from 1899, and from 1908 he worked in Mödling. Lowatschek was elected to the local council in 1919 and held the office of mayor between 1922 and 1925 and from 1934 to 1938. He was also active as chairman of the regional association of savings banks and founded the Christian Teachers Association in Lower Austria. He was also president of the teachers' union. Lowatschek represented the Christian Social Party between May 20, 1927 and October 30, 1934 in the Lower Austrian state parliament and during the Austro-Fascist era was a representative of the school, education and popular education system in the Lower Austria state parliament from November 22, 1934 to March 12, 1938 .

Lowatschek is buried in an honorary grave of the city of Mödling at the Mödlinger Friedhof. The Josef Lowatschekgasse in Mödling was named in his honor. His great-nephew, Harald Lowatschek, was, like him, both the school director and the mayor of Mödling.
