Josef Mühlbachler

Josef Mühlbachler (born December 23, 1945 in Neumarkt im Mühlkreis ) was a teacher and an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). He is married and has three children.

Life

Mühlbachler started his education in 1952 at the elementary school and after the Gymnasium Freistadt (1956–1964) he studied between 1964 and 1969 at the University of World Trade . Since 1964 he has been a member of the Catholic student association KÖHV Franco-Bavaria Vienna in the ÖCV . Between 1973 and 1976 he still studied business education at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz .

After military service (1969–1970) he became a teacher at the commercial academy (HAK) and commercial school (HASCH) in Feldkirch , Vorarlberg , before he came to Freistadt as a teacher in 1971 at the HAK and HASCH. Between 1978 and 1988 he was a works consultant for the brewing commune Freistadt . Since 1995 he has been chairman of the supervisory board of the Technologiezentrum Mühlviertel establishment and operating company. In 1979 he started his career as a politician and became a member of the municipal council in Freistadt. In 1980 he was elected district party chairman of the ÖVP and in 1985 he was promoted to vice mayor. In 1988 he was mayor of the city for around 19 years (until 2007). On November 1, 1985, Josef Mühlbachler became a member of the Austrian National Council and remained so until December 19, 2002 (sixteenth to twenty-first legislative period).
