Josef Machynka

Josef Machynka (* 1957 in Bad Vöslau ) is an Austrian painter whose oil paintings deal with the research of general human conditions and sensitivities. His areas of interest mythology, philosophy and symbolism are thematically addressed in his pictures.

Life

Josef Machynka was born in 1957 as the son of a musician and hobby painter in Bad Vöslau, Lower Austria . As a teenager he learned the basics of oil painting from his father.

From 1978 to 1984 Machynka studied at the University of Applied Arts Vienna . He was in Wolfgang Hutter's master class .

From 1981 Machynka dealt with philosophy, mythology and symbolism, which increasingly determined the thematic design of his pictures. Machynka held lectures and seminars and organized painting and drawing courses on these topics and on art and culture in general.
