Josef Matejcek

Josef Matejcek (born March 19, 1904 in Vienna ; † October 4, 1965 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and chairman of the railway workers' insurance company. From 1959 to 1965 he was a member of the National Council .

After primary school, Matejcek attended a public school in Vienna and learned the trade of a machine fitter. He was involved in the union, was a superstructure worker for the Austrian Federal Railways, auditor of the ÖBB and central secretary of the railway workers' union. He was also the first chairman of the railway workers' insurance company and represented the SPÖ in the National Council from June 9, 1959 to October 4, 1965. Matejcek was arrested for political reasons in 1936 and charged with treason.
