Julius Kricheldorff
Johann Gottfried Julius Kricheldorff (born July 10, 1830 in Berlin ; † May 10, 1910 there ) was a German photographer .
Life
Studios
Julius Kricheldorff ran his first photographer's studio from 1855 to 1887 in Königsstrasse in Berlin . His “Photographic Institute” was located in house no. 32. From 1888 onwards, his studio at Karlstraße 26 in Berlin is documented. At the same address he advertised several times in the Entomological Journal , in which he offered butterflies , larvae and caterpillars.
His son Fritz Kricheldorff (* 1864; † 1933) also became a photographer and also produced 26 cameras at Karlstrasse at the beginning of the 20th century: around 1895 he developed the first "mirror-reflex folding camera". He applied for a patent for his “ mirror reflex folding camera model 1910” .
Awards
According to information from a Carte de visite Kricheldorff he was awarded at the following world exhibitions :
- 1893 at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago
- 1894 at the world exhibition in Antwerp , as well
- 1895 at the world exhibition in Amsterdam .
Works
- In 1872 Kricheldorff made recordings to illustrate Julius Wolff's article Contributions to the Doctrine of the Healing of Fractures , which appeared in the Archive for Clinical Surgery 14.
- Around 1890, on the occasion of the 3000 meter world record, a woodcut with the title The permanent driver Alfred Koecher -Berlin with his pacemakers was distributed after a recording by Kricheldorff.
However, Julius Kricheldorff has made a name for himself as a military photographer in particular :
- The State Archive of Baden-Wuerttemberg is frequently estate , owned by 18 different large photos Kricheldorffs. These are often glued to half cardboard and some have an edge length of more than half a meter. The photos show group pictures , the individual members of which are usually named, printed on the box below the photo. The archive collection spans the period from 1888 to 1912. The archive has titled the recordings and photomontages with headings such as “Participants (approx. Fifty-two people) in the training course at the Spandau military shooting school in a forest clearing, partly standing, partly sitting, with one in the background Hut".
- Military group pictures from Kricheldorff were also distributed as postcards .
